Overview
Morpheus8 is a brand of radiofrequency microneedling device. Insulated needles penetrate to a set depth and deliver radiofrequency energy from their tips, heating the deeper dermis and subdermal tissue while sparing the skin surface.
How it works
Combining needling with radiofrequency delivers thermal energy at a controlled depth. The intended effect is collagen contraction and remodelling, and some tightening of the fibrous septae in subdermal fat. Depth is adjustable, which is what distinguishes it from surface-only resurfacing.
What is involved
- Course: commonly three sessions spaced four to six weeks apart.
- Anaesthetic: topical anaesthetic; sometimes injected local anaesthetic for deeper settings.
- Downtime: redness and a grid pattern of small marks for two to four days; swelling for a few days.
Risks and limitations
Recognised risks include prolonged redness, post-inflammatory pigmentation, tracking marks, infection, and, where energy is delivered too deeply or with excessive settings, fat atrophy producing hollowing, which is difficult to correct. Nerve irritation is possible in the lower face.
Results develop over three to six months. Radiofrequency microneedling produces modest tightening, not a surgical lift, and independent long-term evidence remains limited relative to the way such devices are marketed. Where there is substantial skin excess, expectations should be set accordingly.

Swelling begins to subside. You may experience mild bruising which can be concealed with makeup. Resume normal daily activities with care.
