Overview
HydraFacial is a branded device-based facial that combines cleansing, gentle exfoliation, extraction using suction, and the application of serums, delivered through a handpiece in a single session.
What is involved
- Treatment time: typically 30 to 45 minutes.
- Downtime: essentially none; mild redness may last an hour or two.
- Frequency: commonly monthly where used as maintenance.
What it can and cannot do
This is a superficial treatment. It can leave skin cleaner, smoother and temporarily more hydrated and is a reasonable option before an event or as routine maintenance. It does not treat wrinkles, laxity, established pigmentation or scarring, and published independent evidence for durable change in skin structure is limited.
Risks and limitations
Risks are low: transient redness, and occasional irritation or breakout, particularly after extractions. It is generally avoided over active inflammatory acne, rosacea flares, sunburn or broken skin, and where there is a known allergy to a serum ingredient.

Recovery Timeline

Day 1: Immediately After
Mild redness and swelling at the treatment area is normal. Apply cool compresses as advised by your practitioner. Avoid touching the treated area.

Days 2-3: Initial Healing
Swelling begins to subside. You may experience mild bruising which can be concealed with makeup. Resume normal daily activities with care.
W1
Week 1: Visible Improvement
Initial results become visible. Any bruising should have resolved. Follow-up check with your practitioner to assess progress and address any concerns.
W4
Week 4: Full Results
Treatment has fully settled with optimal results now visible. Final review appointment to evaluate outcome and discuss maintenance programme.
