Acne affects 95% of people at some point in their lives, yet many suffer unnecessarily without professional treatment. At Axiom Aesthetics, our clinical team combines medical-grade skincare, advanced treatments, and expert knowledge to help you achieve clear, healthy skin.
Understanding Acne
Acne develops when hair follicles become blocked by excess sebum (oil) and dead skin cells. Bacteria (C. acnes) colonise these blocked follicles, triggering inflammation. Hormonal fluctuations, stress, diet, and genetics all influence severity.
Types of Acne
- Comedonal: Blackheads and whiteheads — non-inflammatory
- Inflammatory: Red, tender papules and pustules
- Nodular/Cystic: Deep, painful lesions — highest scarring risk
Professional Treatment Options
Medical-Grade Skincare
Prescription retinoids, benzoyl peroxide, azelaic acid, and targeted cleansers form the foundation of acne management. Our practitioners prescribe personalised regimes.
Chemical Peels
Salicylic acid and glycolic acid peels help unblock pores, reduce inflammation, and accelerate skin cell turnover. A course of 4–6 peels spaced 2–4 weeks apart produces significant improvement.
LED Blue Light Therapy
Blue light (415nm wavelength) targets and destroys C. acnes bacteria without antibiotics. Combined with red light for anti-inflammatory benefits.
Microneedling for Acne Scarring
Once active acne is controlled, microneedling effectively improves acne scars by stimulating collagen remodelling.
